While most of you are preparing for a nice party of poppin’ pills and drinkin’ booze @Groezrock, we’re busy organizing your ultimate Groezrock afterparty; Claiming The Crown IV !!

This party will take place on Monday the 29th of April @Publieke Werken, Breda.

The bands who will join this fest are Schelles, Dowzer, Harsh Realms and the kings of Belgium punkrock Gino’s Eyeball!

And holy shit, the damage is only €5,- !!

This weekend @ Breda Barst last New Pokerface Show!

This saturday we’ll be playing our final show. After years of gigging this will be your chance to say goodbye to us so let’s make it something memorable @ Breda Barst! We will be doing other stuff but for now its gonna be a party you won’t soon forget! Breda is our hometown so make us proud, bring your party hat, your slingers and stagediving cloths, the one stagedives most gets free merch!

Also, friday we will be guest at our last radio show at Local FM. Tune in if you want to hear us one last time and practice your sing-a-longs for saturday!

You can fill in 10 songs you like, but only the top 15 is going to be in the set. We’re allowed to play an hour, so we can’t play every song of our discography. And yes, you can choose some covers and yes you can choose some ‘new’ and unheard songs!

RIP Tony Sly

One of 90s punkrock heroes Tony Sly, singer of No Use For A Name has passed away. No Use For A Name was one of our inspirations to start our band and last year we were able to support them in Den Bosch. His music will be missed.

After all this sad news and tears we are glad to remind you we still got some shows left! This weekend we will be playing 100% punkrock at Concert Café Blue Jeans in Ravels-Eel. Indeed, this is in Belgium but do not worry, its only a 40 minute drive from our beloved Breda. We will be playing with the Monkey Punks and Green Day-tribute Dookie. We certainly hope they will be playing all of Dookie… Doors are open at 19:30 and first band is on at 21:00

NEW POKERFACE 2006 – 2012

After approximately six years of making music, performing on stage, and having put out three records, we have decided to call it quits. New Pokerface will only perform two or three more shows and after that the story is finished.

Somewhere in 2006 we decided to start a punk rock band as a three piece (Bert joined us in 2010). After a number of rehearsals and writing some songs we played our first gig in Roosendaal at Wally’s place. A couple of months later we put out our first EP ‘Act The Animal’, which can be downloaded here. We played a lot of shows in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with a lot of cool bands, some of which are now gone (Undeclinable) or world famous (the Gaslight Anthem).

In 2008 we recorded our first full-length album ‘Another Day, Another Religion’ at Split Second Sound. When the record came out it received a lot of positive criticism by different music magazines like Oor, Musicfrom and Aardschok. In 2009 we played several shows in France and Spain. That was definitely one of the best things we have ever done as New Pokerface! It is really unfortunate that we haven’t toured with our van through Europe more often. Here you can watch some movie-clips from our little tour if you have some spare time.

Then, in 2010 Bert joined to give our band a steadier sound and in 2011 we put out our most recent EP ‘Swingers’, which you can download over here. To promote the EP, we made two music videos for two songs that are on it. You can watch the music video that we made for ‘Close Your Eyes’ over here and you can watch the music video that we made for ‘Darlington Park’ over here. We did a lot of great shows (including support shows at the Heideroosjes farewell tour) and had a lot of fun driving the van and doing gigs all through the Netherlands and Belgium.

The last couple of months we worked on new material for what should have been our next full-length album. A lot of songs were completed but unfortunately, things turned out differently. We wanted to create the best record in our career, but with that in mind we had to conclude that we couldn’t bring up the time and effort needed to reach that goal. So, we have decided to call it quits. There haven’t been any personal conflicts or anything else of the sort, we each just feel differently about the role that our band should play in our personal lives.

We’ll always keep on making music, but for now there aren’t any music plans for any of us. Our last show will be at the Breda Barst festival on 15th of September, until that time, we’ll enjoy everything that comes on our path (so feel free to book us if you want us to come play one of our last shows!)

Na zes jaar muziek maken, optredens en het releasen van drie cd’s, hebben we besloten om te stoppen. New Pokerface zal nog twee of drie shows doen en dan is het klaar.

Ergens in 2006 besloten we een punkrock band te beginnen als trio (Bert kwam er pas in 2010 bij). Na wat repetities en het schrijven van nummers, speelden we onze eerste show in Roosendaal in Wally’s Place. Enkele maanden later brachten we onze eerste EP uit, ‘Act The Animal’, die hier te downloaden is. We deden erg veel shows in Nederland, Belgie met veel gave bands. Sommige hiervan zijn al gestopt (Undeclinable), maar sommige zijn nu ook wereldberoemd (the Gaslight Anthem).

In 2010 kwam Bert bij de band om New Pokerface een steviger geluid te geven en brachten in 2011 Swingers uit, die hier te downloaden is. Om deze EP te promoten hebben we twee video’s gemaakt voor Close Your Eyes en Darlington Park. We hebben in die tijd erg veel leuke shows gedaan (waaronder het voorprogramma voor de Heideroosjes afscheidsshows) en hebben vooral veel plezier gehad in alle shows en alles wat erbij komt kijken.

De laatste maanden zijn we bezig geweest om nieuw material voor onze volgende plaat te maken. Veel nummers waren al af maar dit mocht niet baten. We wilden ons beste album maken, maar met dat in ons achterhoofd hebben we moeten concluderen dat we niet de tijd en moeite konden opbrengen om dat doel te behalen. Hierdoor hebben we besloten om te stoppen met de band. Er zijn geen persoonlijke conflicten of iets dergelijks, we hebben gewoon allemaal een ander beeld in hoeverre de band een rol moet spelen in onze levens.

We zullen altijd muziek blijven maken, maar voor nu zijn er geen plannen voor ieder van ons. Onze laatste show zal die van Breda Barst zijn (15 september) en tot die tijd genieten we van alles dat op ons pad komt (mocht je ons willen boeken voor die tijd, horen we het graag!)

2-show weekend coming up

This week we will be taking a break from our pre-producing activities and play 2 shows. This friday we will be playing at Beukfest with the Accelerators, Dowzer and the Apers! We’re really excited to be playing a show with 3 awesome Dutch punkrock band. If you want to know the current state of the scene come check out the show at Gebouw T in Bergen op Zoom!

The next saturday will be a celebration of the 90′s at the Finals of the Tune Out Skate Tour in Zevenbergen. Skating and punkrock will be once again rejoined on this lovely day. Actually, the event will show you skating and punkrock are alive as ever! We will be playing at around 8 o’clock so make sure to bring your decks and show us your moves!
